Isn't this the most gorgeous image? (I blame the super-hot weather in London right now for putting me in summer hols mode!) I'm dedicating this image to my lovely friend Melissa over here....not sure if it's Greece or not but those bright colours and that beautifully blue sky are sure making me think of it!
I have received a couple of lovely awards this last week....
...thank you to the lovely Trish at Pink Preppy Lilly Lover
for this....
....and to Liz at Le Passion For Fashion
for....
I have to tell you seven things about myself, that I haven't already shared....I shall give it some thought and share and also pass these awards on next week :)
My newest blog advertisers are the lovely people at All Tea Towels. I did a feature on them and a Giveaway with them earlier this year which was a lot of fun....I will be featuring some of their lovely linens and other items next week. Do take a look for yourself though....
a huge variety of designs, great quality, international shipping (and free UK delivery) and excellent customer service....
In the meantime....my latest Giveaway will be one of their lovely strawberry print aprons....
...perfect for this Wimbledon fortnight!
I am also giving away one of these gorgeous notebooks from Mimi Charmante ....
....plus a couple of other summery items that I think you may like!
To win, you just need to follow my blog and just leave me a comment....I will draw the winner this Friday July 2....good luck!
And finally....
....over fifteen years ago, I left a very good job in London to go to work in the US for nine months over the summer....the job I left is actually still the best paid job I have ever had! Looking back sometimes I am amazed that I took that step....but it was 100% one of the best things I ever did....I knew at the time that if I didn't do it then, I never would - and I was right. It was the first time I had ever flown alone, my first time in the US and the first time I had ever been away alone and that far away for that long. It was a huge learning curve but I had a fabulous time, grew so much and my confidence soared....plus I got to live in NYC for a few months....it was one of the best decisions I ever made, I was a changed person when I returned.
I didn't really have any responsibilities then....no children or mortgage or relationship....so in some ways it was easier to go....but I can still remember my Dad watching me walk down to the departure lounge and knowing that it was some kind of turning point in my life....
....sometimes you just have to ask yourself what's the worst that can happen and just do it....
Happy Wednesday!

Okay I'm following so I'm in - but even more importantly is what you said at the end.
ReplyDeleteI can completely relate to every word. Just over 10 years ago I left a very small town rural upbringing in Canada to take a chance on an opportunity in the US and it has changed my life forever. I was nervous and excited and scare, but had this itch to just jump off, eyes closed and do it! So I did. I didn't want to look back and think, 'Gee I wish I would have...'
Here I am over a decade later. Sure do miss my family tremendously, but also really love my life.
Thanks so much for mentioning that. xoxo
Of course I follow your *beautiful* blog- like so many other readers do! It's such a wonderful place to come visit~ thank you for the chance to win such beautiful treasures!
ReplyDeleteMichaele

I was excited to see another post from you tonight ~ oh I look forward to your beautiful images. Happy Wednesday to you too Simone. xo
ReplyDeleteHi Simone-Of course I would love a giveaway and your description of moving the the U.S. was wonderful. All of us should take that leap no mater how small or large...so much learning and living happens in the process.

ReplyDeleteOh that image!! It just invites you in. I know what you mean about just going for it. I was offered a job many years ago and had 24 hours to pack up and go, I hadn't even met the people. Initially the job was a fill in for a few weeks, I ended up there for over 6 years!!! Fabulous people (now my daughter's Godmother)Polo every weekend, a wonderful experience that really did change me in so many ways. Sometimes you just have to take a deep breath and dive in.
ReplyDeleteSo good to have you back Simone.
Happy Wednesday.

ReplyDeleteI always love your blog Simone, and of course I am a follower!!!I am with you...once I left Italy for work thinking it was a question of a few months...but I came back almost nine years later!!! And after, I left this wonderful work all around the world..and I did not knew why....but now I realized it! I came back to Milan and I have found a husband..in June we made 10 years together..... Ciao & baci, Monica
ReplyDeleteOh Simone, I love the stories you throw in every now and then when we least expect it. It's a great saying to live by. When I was 18, I decided to become engaged to my best friend....even though we'd only known each other three months....20 years (17 of them married), six children and a few wrinkles and grey hairs later, we're still together....he still calls me Angel and he still makes me laugh. Meredy xo.
ReplyDeleteNo matter where we live in the world, we must continute to look for the loveliness that surrounds us. You do that for me! Thank you for entering me in your lovely giveaway...
ReplyDeletei just love that quote.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful little note pads Simone! I just adore them :) and your couldn't have spoken truer words!! Hope you are having a fabulous day my love! xo
ReplyDeleteWow Simone... how wonderful that you lived and worked in New York! Such a brave girl to take the leap and do it. If my daughter ever has such a chance come her way, as much as it will break my heart, I would encourage her every step of the way. I'm all about following that dream at the moment! xx
ReplyDeleteoh that apron is so cute! I just ordered some tea towels and can't wait to receive them by mail. xo
ReplyDeleteThis made me cry.
ReplyDeleteI have been going through such a dark time in life and lost sight of my every dream.
This post has inspired me to be a little more hopeful. To begin to slowly, slowly dream again and not be so afraid.
I'm not sure if you read through these comments but thank you, Simone.
I mean that very truly.
Sarah x
Thanks for sharing the story with us! And count me in for the apron, I need a new one! x
ReplyDeleteLove this post! A post I read recently was titled one day I will...... As you probably imagine, it was about taking a chance, following your heart and plunging into the unknown. one of the comments left on this post (by someone else who had also taken a giant leap of faith and followed her heart) was 'I am very aware that some of my courage is what bought me this privilige'. That really resonates with me and sounds like what you did. Some of your courage has taken you to your life right now. Your choices and paths have led you to get here! Good on you for believing in yourself..Lise xx
ReplyDeleteOoh that picture makes me want to go somewhere hot with a sea view immediately! I will check out the site. I could do with some nice new tea towels! xx
ReplyDeleteRight on sister Simone! If I was brave enough I'd have the words' Just Do It' tattoed on my wrist. Watch this space.
ReplyDeleteMillie ^_^
Hey there lovely friend. Gorgeous post and give aways, and congratulations on your new sponsors!
ReplyDeleteLove that you took off on your adventure to the US and the fact that your (proud I am sure) dad stood there and watched his precious little girl spread her wings and fly away. How hard that must be for a parent! I did the same and took off from Sweden with two large suitcases some 22 years ago, and have been traveling since. I agree that 'just doing it' is the way to go. What are we waiting for?! :)
Lovely, I have posted a much delayed 'pillow case' thank you over at my little corner. Please pop in and receive the hug and general greetings.
Have a fabulous weekend!
xx Charlotta
Hello sweet Simone! You are so worthy of your "beautiful blog" award and many, many, many more! Sending you a smile and a wish for a wonderful week ahead. Big hugs dear xxoxox
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful post, thank you so much Simone. I did this moving to the UK a year and a half ago now. I left an excellent job, my friends and family and everything I knew (while I had travelled extensively and lived overseas for a few months at a time before this, it's not the same as a definite move). And while I'm still not at the same stage in my career as I was and haven't made hundreds of close friends, I have so many new experiences and opportunities open to me which I wouldn't change for anything.
