Friday Fabulousness....

....what a great list....absolutely fantastic....

....I am a great reader and know that feeling of never wanting a book to end - and then not wanting to start another book because you want to stay with the old book just a little longer.....reading is such a gift isn't it?

I am planning a summer of reading....I bought a couple of books yesterday to add to my collection (which was probably more than ample already!)....and made a special "summer bookshelf" today....any recommendations? :)

....I love Emma Watson and this image is one of my absolute favourites....

....this is where we spend our summer hols...Villefranche-sur-Mer on the French Riviera....gorgeous isn't it....I can actually see our apartment from here! We stay in the old town....no cars, cobbled narrow streets, steep stone steps and tall townhouses....all painted such beautiful colours....perfection....

....the perfect spot for a little reflection....

....last week-end we camped with friends. Last year I referred to it as "glamping" but this year it was definitely camping! Thank goodness for great friends and the sheer joy on my childrens faces....it 'almost' distracted me from the dust and the ant invasion in my tent....my son could not believe his luck!! We did drive down a long long country lane which was lined with the most beautiful burnt orange poppies....I love these, there's always something so poignant about poppies....

....via the breathtaking Dustjacket Attic ....check out her blog to see more of these....
photos by Olivia Graham....

....via Hey Gorgeous....go take a look at the rest of this amazing wedding....
photos by Stephanie Williams Photography....

....no words necessary for this one....just breathtaking....you would never want to leave would you....

....I love you Penelope Cruz....so gorgeous!

It's been a hot and busy week in London....the end of the school term is back-to-back events as usual....
my son only has two more weeks of preschool before he starts full-time school in September....
so I am really trying to make the most of our time together....

I am also - on the other hand - trying to focus on finding the perfect swimwear for my summer holiday....multi-tasking at its finest I think you will agree! Shopping with a four year boy in tow (which I generally am) can be challenging at the best of times....one of those times being when you are attempting to try on swimsuits at great speed in a changing room the size of a red London telephone box which appears to have been heated to sauna level temperatures...and all the while your little companion-turned-stylist is trying to see if he can fit underneath the changing room door whilst simultaneously commenting loudly on which swimwear looks good and not-so-good, much to the amusement of your neighbouring changing room occupants.....it's not easy!! (My shopping trips will be much duller without him in the autumn....I do realise that!)

This week-end we will be....
swimming, attending a class picnic, shopping, baking, going to the movies, probably watch the World Cup Final (while not really minding who wins), celebrating my husband's birthday....and hopefully taking a little time out too....

PS My challenge for the week-end is to make the perfect mojito....I had one last night when I was out and it was good but not great....so that is my fun mission for the week-end....all tips and suggestions gratefully received :)

Happy Week-end everyone....
thank you, as always, for all your fantastic comments....

Thank you for your kind words and link to DJ's, you are so generous my friend.

I'm more than a little envious of your holiday spot, I love the sound of where you stay in the old part...ahh cobbled streets...bliss.

That was hilarious about your young stylist...and they talk so clearly and loudly don't they!! Hope you find the perfect swimsuit.

    much love DJ

  3. There are some many terrific aspects to this post. I have to say I love the list. Just adore it. And as a fellow reader - completely relate to wanting to linger over those last several pages of a book wishing it would never end. Reading is such a gift. Would love to know what you have on your list for summer. xo-Carrie

  4. Thanks so much for the hello! I love your blog! I'm super jealous you have an apartment on the French Riviera...I visited last year and fell in love! Awesome pictures too! As far as reading lists go, I had a post a couple weeks ago with my summer "to-read list" and got some good feedback from others if you want to take a look! Have a wonderful weekend!

  7. ok I will take up the Mojito challenge-

get out your mortar and pestle. grind together a handful of mint leaves and a teaspoon of sugar per drink. grind until the mint leaves are really broken up. scrape the minty, sugary goodness into your glass. squeeze a lime using a fruit juicer and pour it into your glass. add tonic water and one jigger of rum. (I like vodka instead). spear a lime chunk or two on a spear and throw in a sprig of mint.

I make them quite often in the summer...yummm

  8. Ahh, Mojitos. One of my specialties. First make simple syrup (1 cup water and 1 cup sugar melted and then let cool - I add mint leaves to it to infuse the simple syrup with mint flavor). While that cools get your mortar and pestle and use it on your fresh mint leaves and some lime. Put ice in a large glass or shaker glass add simple syrup, mint/lime mixture. Add some rum and Perrier (Kim's suggestion). I actually started using lime perrier and it is fantastic. Shake it up and pour it into a glass - enjoy my friend.

  22. Great to have you back in full swing for a Fab Friday. Lovely list of life instructions - we ALWAYS wave at kids on school buses. Your holiday spot looks wonderful. I was at a Brazillian friend's 40th b/day last weekend - she hired a 'mixologist' and we drank the most fab Mojitos freshly made all night - a few hangovers Sunday for sure! Good luck with yours.

  24. I am really enjoying your blog! I'm staring at these imagining I'm somewhere near the ocean, instead of stuck in London- though the sunshine in London today is nothing to complain about. Thanks for the inspiration!

  25. I love your Friday Fabulousness posts Simone, they always leave me with smile on my face to start the weekend! Gorgeous pic of Emma Watson-she photographs so beautifully. Enjoy your weekend and Happy Birthday to your husband! And love your holiday destination - beaucoup de fabulousness! As for the perfect mojito - well I'm still trying... which is fun in itself! I've stopped making sugar syrup - not worth it, you may as well just muddle the brown sugar in with the mint and lime. Also do you put in a dash of Angostura Bitters - it's supposed to make a difference but I'm not sure. I shall have to experiment again this evening! Clink! xx

  35. On the hop, and a day late, but I have to suggest a book (books?). Apologies if someone already has. If you haven't yet read Stieg Larsson's Millennium trilogy..."The Girl..." books: "...With the Dragon Tattoo," "...Who Played With Fire" and "...Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest," do so soon. Can't put them down. BTW, all the way from the Deep South of the USA, I love, love, love your blog. Always uplifting and inspired.

  36. ..and you know that if I lived anywhere near London I'd put my self up as a test case for your Mojitos. You could practice on me! :)

So much loveliness here as usual. Am overwhelmed, in the most happy and positive way, with your beautiful images. Love coming here!

Books.. (brain freeze.. need a Mojito..). You know, I am re-reading Eat Pray Love as a warm up to the movie release. Was also a late bloomer when it came to the Stieg Larsson triology and only finished reading them a couple of months ago.. Shame on me! I am Swedish after all.. If you like suspense, I can recommend another great Swedish writer - Camilla Lackberg. She's done a whole series of great books. Start with the Ice Princess and read the books in order for the pleasure of the underlying story.. Other than that, just indulge in magazines and blogs.. Let Summer be light and enjoy every moment with your son. They grow up too quickly and these young years are precious!

    Big hugs from Sydney!

  37. Ahhh, breezy nice post. Peonies are my favourite. I hope you had a fabulous weekend. Are you in your new house already? I am relaxed enough after our lengthy holiday to put the house on the market again and try again. And then... well, Richmond turned out to be a commuting nightmare for my husband. Looks like we'll be back to Kensington soon. Fingers crossed! x MM
