London Today....

The snow in London has been quite incredible, lots of it and arriving and settling extremely quickly!
Despite it being forecast, it did arrive sooner than expected....and I got stranded....what should have been a 20 minute journey took over 5 hours....quite an adventure, altho not one I want to repeat anytime soon!

And the snow meant I didn't make it to Wales :(
Still, at least I'm not stuck at the airport trying to get home to friends and family like many people are....

Having had several weeks of seemingly non-stop events, Day 1 of the school holidays has been sheer bliss! Not having to get up or even go out, we watched Christmas movies, had a carpet picnic and have just finished our gingerbread houses.
Above is a real work of art....below are those by my children, works of art in their own special way of course :)

(Sorry about the picture quality!)

It's supposed to be -7 again tonight and more snow is due....Christmas movies and Baileys for me...."Love Actually", Albert Finney in "Scrooge"....and I'm working on finishing the boxset of "Grey's Anatomy" season 6 :)
Keep warm!!

  1. Our weather is very mild compared to yours, just rain (lots of it). Your movie choices mirrored the exact ones I watched this weekend right down to the Baileys..Great minds, so they say! LOL...

We have friends that just flew to London and it took 24 hours to get there, and another family leaving on Wedsnesday which will probably have the same fate...

Enjoy your family and stay warm! xxoo :)

  3. Sorry you didn't make it to Wales. I'm hoping my family in the UK that should be travelling between London and Edinburgh this Christmas all make it. Gingerbread houses look exactly how they should when made by little hands! Bet they taste good.

  4. The gingerbread houses are superb - and what fun to eat afterward. Love the picture of the Houses of parliament. Bristol looks like that today, it's been snowing non-stop. I'm getting quite excited because Melissa has finished my cushions and is sending them, or has already. I'll find a way to show you the pictures.
What a lovely white Christmas you're going to have with your kids! Be happy.

  7. Dear Simone, your gingerbread houses look lovely!

I have one trip into town on Wednesday and some food shopping to do but that is it.

The Actor and I watched the colourised version of Scrooge with Alistair Sim last night. I love the Albert Finney version best. Love Actually reminds me of him too as I got together with him at Andy Lincoln's stag night.

We have started watching The Bishop's Wife we need to eat then we shall get back to it, then I'll get him to pick another from the Christmas pile. I have a very large bottle of Baileys so we'll have a few glasses of that too.

Have a great evening, it sounds perfect xx

  13. Bonjour lovely gal...i am back from the gorgeous-ness that is marrakech to the gorgeous-ness that is england in the snow!
our village hasn't had this much snow since 1972 apparently!
it only took us two trips to the airport in this weather to actually get on a plane- as you say- better than what a lot of other people have been through travel wise!

kiddos loving it of course- and so are the big kids!
it is truely incredible for us sandy aussies to dress up and head out for lunch in the snow....
hoping your wrapping is getting there and that Santa & Amazon are also working hard together to get to your house- fingers crossed up here in the countryside i can tell you!!

have a wonderful week my lovely london friend...
hope your gorgeous little ones love their goodies...

  14. I made it up there and back! Being in London will now and for always make me think of you! The snow did not stop me - was touch and go - and the party was...nice...lots of dresses to look at and general jubilation! I always think London is just sooo bizarre - all those people at all times of the day and night - where are they all going to? It did look rather lovely in the snow though. The lights at Harrods and Harvey Nics also caught my eye! Not to mention all the dreamy shops. Something about it that oozes excitement...

  16. We are buried in snow as well this morning. As I read about the Gingerbread houses I was thinking to myself, "wow, she makes an awesome Gingerbread house, then I read the caption." The children did a wonderful job as well. I hope your holidays were good.
