(I'm pretty sure I found this on someone's blog this week and I just cannot remember where....I apologise if it was yours, I do like to link back where possible....)
Am in need of some pretty things today....some days just feel like that....
My children went to a Valentine's dance at their school tonight - the first hour was for the younger ones (my son) and the second hour for the older children (my daughter).
For my daughter this involved planning her clothes days in advance and going for tea at a friend's house beforehand in order to talk about dance steps....
....my son on the other hand, didn't even want to change his clothes (altho he did spend some time scrubbing his face 10 minutes before we left - and even "shaved") and spent the first 30 mins of the hour long dance, pogo-ing, running on the spot and singing really loudly to every song - no practice needed for him apparently.
They both had a brilliant time in their own way....just lovely.
I should add that in my daughter's class a couple of girls made it known that they would like to be escorted to the dance (they are 9-10 yr olds). Several boys applied for the job....applicants were judged on their spelling and the overall presentation of the letters they wrote asking said girls for the honour of being their date.
If only life - and relationships - were always that simple.
I saw "The Fighter" the other night and really enjoyed it, the acting was absolutely fantastic....I can really see why it is being nominated for everything at the moment....Christian Bale was brilliant in it.
Am planning to see "True Grit" and "Never Let Me Go" next week.
A friend has lent me the first season of "Mad Men", I must be the only person I know who hasn't watched it....hoping to start it tomorrow....
My week-end is going to be full of simple pleasures.....going to buy myself flowers, some good chocolate, have a large coffee somewhere local and hopefully head up to Highgate Woods or Hampstead Heath for some fresh air and some time to exhale....and maybe a lovely roast Sunday lunch in a cosy pub somewhere....
comfort food and a little nurturing of the soul, you can't go wrong can you....??
Happy Week-end!!

Those pink peonies are just amazing!
Oh Simone...want any company??? That sounds like my idea of the perfect weekend:) Seems the bar is raised pretty high as far as escort standards go for 9 & 10 year olds....as it should be. How adorable. Take heart that your son at least wanted to clean himself up a little before hand. Such precious moments Simone. Did you get into the groove too as you stood on the sidelines? Betcha did. Meredy xo
Morning sweetpea...that tree lined boulevard is just calling my name. What a pretty set of pictures and then SNAP - we have the same one. I think she looks so happy and natural; such a wonderful spontaneous smile. I nurturing the soul is a good past time, I should try that ;-) Lou xx
P.S. thanks for the comment - you are right, I should ease up on the self-judgement. Good advice xx

Lovely images. I want me some of the pancakes for Sunday morning breakfast. So cute with the valentines dance and especially the girls being escorted! I have no doubt that you will LOVE Mad Men and I bet you'll be blogging about it next week for sure. Enjoy.
Gorgeous pictures. That green tree-lined canopy almost took my breath away - stunning. Happy Friday!
Dear Simone, your son singing and dancing sounds adorable.
I am being lent Mad Men, can't wait! Not that I've even caught up on the stuff I do watch...
Your weekend sounds wonderful. We shall be doing much the same in Norfolk at my Dad's. Have a fabulous weekend xx
Hello Simone!

And also, thank you so much for the visits and kind comments—whenever I see one from you, it makes my day instantly brighter,
xoxo
evening lovely...
i am going to buy flowers and put them in teacups...
just simply lovely...
we have our valentines dances next friday...audrey talks to all her friends on her little bedside (glamorous toy phone) each night before bed to check whose going and whose not!
when did they all become so aware and big...?
sol is 10 and said he's past going out with the girl that asked him...apparently it's cool at 10 to go with a friend and *see* the girls there...so there is hope yet!
your weekend sounds divine...we did H.Heath last weekend...it was like walking on the moors but with that fabulous big lovely house and restaurant/canteen for lunch....
enjoy sweet...melissa xxx
Ohhh such day dreamy pictures. Love the top one of Amanda Seyfried, I think shes fabulous! just popped over to say hi, I have found you through the rather gorgous @onlinestylist. Will be back XXX
Sounds like a delightful week-end Simone ~ wish I was there to spend it with you. A Valentines dance sounds like fun for the littles ~ it's all about love. Speaking of love ~ big hugs to you my friend. xo
I will have what you're having - weekend wise, it sounds fabulous! The Valentine dance sounds adorable and those young girls are wise to take applications! :). I am just starting on Mad Men too - I watched the first few episodes back when it started but didn't continue for various reasons. A bit of trivia: there is a hotel that is featured for an affair of two of the characters. That is where we stayed back in October! Warm hugs and smiles! xxoo
A very wonderful weekend! I loved "Never Let Me Go" and the book was even more moving.
Mad Men and Boardwalk Empire are what makes television worth it these days in my point of view! Much love and take care!

Oh my, just what my little soul needed this morning. What a lovely composition of photographs ~ xox Alexandra
