yesterday i walked to Kenwood.....
it was a beautiful day and it was pretty busy there, as busy as i've ever seen it.
it was gorgeous though, i've come to realise it's one of my peaceful places....
i was there with my children but it's still my place to exhale.
Happy April, have a great week!

I would do everything on our list, but that's a lot of days off! hehe
ReplyDeleteOh what a wonderful thought! A whole day to myself is such a luxury, that I wouldn't know where to begin. I'd probably wander arounds as many inspirational garden centres and gardens that I could cram in (Clifton nurseries, Petersham nurseries etc - bliss!) - taking photographs, buying things and planning as many gorgeous ideas for my garden as possible. Then i'd spend the early evening, drinking Earl Grey tea (or possibly rose wine) in my garden, with scones, clotted cream and homemade jam, with a fabulous garden and interiors magazine/book, in time to receive a large boxed delivery from net-a-porter. JOY! xxx
ReplyDeleteI would have a breakfast with no rush, a bit of shopping, and then head to the spa for a whole body massage, manicure, pedicure and do my hair nicely. After I would go home and put my baby boy to sleep and invite my husband for a really quiet dinner at home and a cuddle in the sofa.
ReplyDeleteHave an amazing week, Eliana
Oh gosh, I think I want a day that includes all those things! Hmmm, if I had choose though it would definitely include the seaside and photography and something yummy to eat.
ReplyDeleteYes yes yes, it would be hard to choose, and I guess it depends on my mood and the weather and all sorts of things. As the mom of two little boys, right now what I crave most is silence and time to be by myself, so I'd probably choose a day on my own. Time to get some exercise - a yoga class, perhaps - lunch at a restaurant, with a glass of wine thankyouverymuch, and an afternoon movie. Oh daydreaming, thou art so torturous!
ReplyDeleteOh Lord Sim!! Everything on that list makes my heart sing. I can't help you with this one only to say which ever idea gives you butterflies in your stomach just thinking about it; that's the one I would choose.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your day Sweets xx
Oh my goodness...so many ideas! The first few on your list are things I do each day; today field and beach in one day. I tried to explain to Boo as she rode her bike beside me how lucky we were. She didn't really get it. You know when you are young, you don't appreciate things like hills and fields. Sand and surf.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I LOVE this post - and I realise that I am torn between getting out there and experiencing the world and staying in and hunkering down in bed with a book. Can't there be a number of days? Isn't it that this lusting after a free day is the territory of parents, whose schedule is so dictated by their children, there is this endless longing for life when there were no deadlines. No teatime, no bedtime to be back for. Hmmm - a really thought- provoking post Simone. Lou x
I saw myself nodding at lots of the items on your list Simone ~ I would want more than 1 day of course and would not be allowed to feel guilty for anything. I am fortunate though as I do get these days every once in awhile and love having the time to be productive or lazy. Happy April to you. xo
ReplyDeleteHappy April, Simone. I wished I lived in Europe, because if I had a day to myself, I would definitely do a trip by myself to many of the destinations you listed... amazing! But Cali isn't too bad either ;)
ReplyDeleteHope you're doing well!
All of the above ... or maybe just relax on the couch with my favourite tv shows and magazines :)
ReplyDeleteI love them all! On the weekends I have been trying to stay pretty unplugged as I am on the computer all week. I am loving everything on this list and quite a few I often do as my children are grown and Alex works quite a bit. I want to tell you that I have been carrying around your life list in my bag, to remind myself to write one. This weekend was spent at home resting as I have come down with the awful flu. Looking forward to healthier days! Hugs and sunshine, sweet Simone! xxoo
ReplyDeleteFabulous list Simone...now, if I had a whole day to myself...I think I would spend it alone...I love my family and friends but a whole day to myself I would love (I'm very happy in my own company) I would walk in Hyde Park, mooch around the art galleries maybe do a little bit of shopping and then meet my husband for a romantic dinner at Scotts...perfect! So, not totally on my own all day ;-)
ReplyDeleteLovely post, Simone.
Catherine
xx
I love your list and photos! Thought provoking ideas:) xo
ReplyDeleteDear Simone,
ReplyDeleteWell, I do all of those things EVERYDAY !!!!!!!
It's great being old !!!! XXXX
SUCH a great post Simone:) I often think about this...I used to work at home and live alone - there was plenty of 'me' time - now, I work in a small office with 5 others and live with my bf. Sometimes I just dream of taking a whole day off from work that is not on a weekend, and doing what I would enjoy. Sitting in a cafe, going for a walk, reading, mani/pedi, leisurely lunch while staring at a pretty view. Maybe a museum or gallery stroll. Some time to write a list of things to do...ok, now this is inspiring me to actually go do it:) xx
ReplyDeleteThe answer for me is easy: spend the day on the beach with Hubby alone. However, I will tell you that there were a million other things that I would pick as runners-up! AND...it hit me that since the kids, I have NEVER had a day all to myself, unless I had a very specific purpose for it (errands, etc.)! Thank goodness for my parents who give us enough babysitting to give the two of us days to ourselves all the time!
ReplyDeleteI would definitely take a long walk on a beach! That sounds amazing right now! Have a wonderful Easter celebration!
ReplyDeleteJennifer:)
I love this list - I will definitely make it my mission to spend a day doing at least a few things from it! :)
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend!
