In Search Of : The Perfect Workspace....

I have written before about my dream of a home office & written here about my own work-space....

My dream of a room of my own remains just that but I have decided to move from the kitchen, which is where I currently work, to a "work/inspiration corner".

My fabulous new Asus Zenbook has now arrived & as it's half the size of my current laptop, I can have a smaller desk but still have plenty of space....

I have been scouring local antique shops/secondhand stores for the perfect desk - old, wooden & spacious.
I am creating an inspiration board.
I already have the perfect chair - old & v comfy.
And I am putting together bits of this & that....a lamp, books, magazines, some shelving....
all designed to add inspiration & beauty.

If I could incorporate some aspects of the workspaces/office below, I'm pretty sure I'd have my dream space....

....and finally, my dream space, although with those windows I might spend much more daydreaming than actually working!

Mrs. Sutton :

What beautiful workspaces! Having my own home office is also a current obsession of mine - I have my eye on a disused garage/coach house in the garden that is presently full of junk and garden furniture. I so wish that I could be one of those industrious ladies that I read about in blogs all over the world, that just roll up their sleeves and set to it to create an amazing space out of nothing. Alas, as an ex-city girl - I am still very wary of the country bugs, mice and Lord knows what that I imagine lurking behind the sit on mower!!! You can take the girl out of London...!

I can totally picture you in that top space- maybe because I can picture it in your home. There is something great about having a space of one's own to embrace your creativity. I loving having Mabel for just that- but- I could see myself in that white space with the two black industrial lights... :)

They all look beautiful work spaces, Simone...I'm very fortunate in having a studio to work from but I have to say I still think I spend more time in the kitchen working...you see it has the kettle and the COFFEE!!!
Have a lovely day ;-)

Those are all gorgeous spaces, Simone! A window near my workspace is a major priority! When Steff moves away, I am making her room into my office/guest room - so I am super excited about the space. This week my office is a cot in the hospital room right next to my guy - who is doing very well! Have a wonderful day, loving friend! xxoo

Oh my. What a perfectly timed post for me to read. As I write this I'm sitting in my own half-finished office. With a wall that aches for something special, so I've got my creative juices flowing and I need a rug, or should I paint the floor? Anyway, it's all on my mind and your pictures will be dutifully inspected...Leslie (aka Gwen Moss blog)

Jeanne @ Collage of Life :

The all important work space...you have a great collection here Simone and I think very achievable with a little creative thinking...something you most definetly have. There are so many wonderful antique...vintage shops around you. I created something similar to the second photo and found it to be really useful and easy to move. The 'work horses' under the table top could be almost anything. I saw one recently using two big urns..loved that look. Wishing you every success in your hunt...wish I could join you!

Metropolitan Mum :

I feel your pain. What could have become my workspace will now be the new baby's nursery. I have got a little dressing table in our bedroom though that might be transformed into a desk. Not ideal, but better than nothing.

Jacqueline @ HOME :

Hi Simone,
Well, I love all of the workspaces that you have shown but, I love what you are doing the best.....an old desk, a comfy chair and all of your essential bits and pieces around you. An individual Simone space !
We have a study with an old desk that a friend made for us many, many years ago and it's in the front of the house so that I can daydream out of the window !.....BUT.....I usually have my laptop on my lap in the lounge in the evening.
Enjoy collecting your workspace essentials Simone. XXXX
